Montalcino: A winemaking town renowned for its Brunello di Montalcino all over the world. Montepulciano: A Renaissance town withb a great wine tradition thanks to its vintage wine il Nobile di Montepulciano.
The tour begins in Siena in the morning with an authorized guide who shows you round the city and its medieval buildings. You will see the magic of the Gothic architectural style of the cathedral known as Duomo and Palazzo Comunale in Piazza del Campo, the theatre of an amazing horse race The Palio. You will have the pleasure to taste the most typical sweets of Siena, namely Panforte and Ricciarelli.
In the afternoon, one brillant tour leader will show you round in Montalcino, where you will taste Brunello di Montalcino, the king of wines.
You will then visit Pienza and Montepulciano, two artistic jewels, as well as the landscape of Val d'Orcia. Pienza, a Renaissance city plannedby Rossellino order of Pope Pius II, is a perfect combination of architectural beauty and harmony. Most of the numerous lanes bearing impressive names overlook the breathtaking landscape of Val d'Orcia. The squares and the historic buildings show Rossellino's mastery as well as the signs of the papal power. Unique tastes, smells and flavours support this natural and artistic heritage. Pienza's most renowned tradition is in fact the typical Pecorino cheese, which you are going to taste in a typical shop.
The tour goes on to Montepulciano, a town built along a narrow ridge of limestone, surrounded by imposing walls. The stateliness of its Renaissance building and the refined beauty of its churches interwine with the ancient tradition of its wine Nobile di Montepulciano, symbol of the city as well as delight of your palate during the wine tasting in a local winery.Â
If you have limited time and budget but want to see Tuscany's most famous and beautiful hilltop towns, taste great wine and experience a wine estate in a magnificent setting then this is the tour for you... so don't forget your camera !!
